The SUA Food Pantry is currently hiring Shift Leads for the 2020 Winter Quarter. Tamra Owens

Major: Business Management and Economics
Tamra Owens served as the Vice President of Student Life from 2016-2018. Her relentless leadership and commitment to the welfare of the student body motivated her to create the SUA Food Pantry. The Pantry first opened in the Spring of 2017 and since then, has continued to provide over 2,000 pounds of free food to students a week.
Tamra is still a resident of Santa Cruz where she now continues her commitment to community while working at a non-profit that provides affordable housing, employment services, and counseling to adults with psychiatric disabilities.

Hello, my name is Ernie Ramirez and this will be my third and final year with the SUA Food Pantry. It will also be my final year at UCSC and Porter College. I’m a Film Production Major with a Minor in Education aspiring to tell relevant and meaningful stories both on the silver screen, and in the classroom. I’m delighted to be working with the Food Pantry one more time, as I’ve grown more and more aware of its significance and impact on our student body and feel passionate about combating food insecurity on our campus.

Hi! My name is Caitlin but you can call me Cait; I go by she, her, hers. This will be my second year at UC Santa Cruz and I am affiliated with College Ten. I am a plant enthusiast who loves flowering all kinds of life from tomatoes to succulents. Another pastime I try to add to my regimen is yoga; this practice enables me to clear my mind and release muscle tension. Lastly, I am very excited for this upcoming year; small steps forward can change the world and that’s what the pantry is all about.

Hi, my name is Kyle Lee and my pronouns are he/him/his. I am a fourth year Crown affiliated Technology/Information Management major. I am an active member of Banana Slugs for Animals, the Doctors Without Borders UCSC chapter, and the Rotaract club. I am from San Francisco. I love country music, reality TV, thrifting, volunteering, and vegan food. I look forward to working with y'all!

Hello! My name is Isabel Salazar and I’m from Fresno, Ca. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I’m a first year transfer affiliated with Porter. I’m a literature major minoring in Latin American Studies and hope to one day pursue a career in children’s book publishing. I love to cook, and pastas with all natural, homemade ingredients are my specialty! I’m grateful to be able to give my time to making the SUA Pantry a comfortable and efficient space for all students.

The volunteers are in charge of being able to check-in students who want to use the pantry. They directly report to shift leads for any pantry needs and questions. Shifts are up to three hours.
